It was in one of my first chemistry classes at UBC in Vancouver that I got passed around a clipboard for “Summer Opportunities” and signed it. Five years later, I wonder where I would be had I not sat where I did in that classroom. I still remember going to my third interview with Student Works and the excitement when I was hired as a franchisee for Vernon, BC in 2006. I was 18, in my first year of university, and had never had a job before. Employment as I knew it involved volunteering during all my high school years. I had no idea what to expect except that it would be a lot of hard work. In my five years involved with SWP I was a franchisee for four years and a District Manager for one year. Beyond the success I had achieved, great money I earned, and things I learned about money and business it was how my experiences running a franchise and being a district manager that are the most valuable. At times I was stressed the most I’ve ever been and just had to manage to push through. Through my experiences I learned true perseverance, found new confidence in myself and felt more empowered in life then ever before.  Student Works Painting has not only created a foundation for my career but for life. The last five years have allowed me to pursue many opportunities I would not have been able to. My experience with SWP has allowed me to grow as a person and has placed me many steps ahead in life.
